Artist Biography
Demi Michelle Bodine is a contemporary dancer and choreographer investigating the depths of movement through her composition. Primarily working as a dancer and model in New York City, her work explores the intersection of modern dance intensity and contemporary dance experimentation. Motivated by the juxtaposition between music styles including Techno House and Classical Instrumentals, Bodine finds deep value in transforming her work into an immersive and passionate experience. She strives to redefine nightlife into something that demands full-body movement, performance, and emotionality.
Bodine has recently choreographed multiple dance pieces at Point Park University for presentations including their Fall Repertory Concert, along with student run showings. She has performed in shows for spaces including Peridance, Point Park University, Steps on Broadway, Red Eye NYC, and 3 Dollar Bill. Her most recent piece of work has been portrayed in Art Galleries inside both New York City, and Guanajuato, Mexico. Alongside her performance experience, she has worked under the direction of Garfield Lemonius - while working closely with choreographers including Sidra Bell, Akira Uchida, Jesse Factor, Madison Hicks, and Kenichi Kasamatsu. Bodine also credits renowned ballet master Michael Crawford for her ability to serve as choreographic assistant within studios including Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway, and individually owned studios all over New Jersey.
Today, she holds her BFA in Modern Dance alongside a minor in English Studies. With this Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bodine intends to spread her knowledge with the younger generations of dance, while simultaneously expanding her performance opportunities in the Tri State Area. She is also currently in progress of achieving multiple Fitness Instructor Certifications to grow her outreach towards different age categories with variations of abilities - making dance an inclusive and safe activity for everybody.
